Troop 3 houses both uniformed troopers and criminal detectives and is a full-service police agency. The new 32,000 square foot facility provides enhanced administrative offices, holding cells, prisoner processing areas and a new multi-purpose public community space.
Mid County DMV
This $20 million LEED Silver Project created a new Department of Motor Vehicles facility with inspection lanes to replace the existing facility. The new facility features a seven (7) bay inspection lane, four (4) drive-through teller windows and thirty (30) customer counter spots. The main public areas include customer service, public reception and customer workstations. Supply air is distributed to the space via a fabric duct that is exposed in the high ceiling. The motor vehicle inspection station utilizes an under floor radiant heating system that is intended to maintain a 70 degree slab temperature when the outdoor air temperature is below 55 degrees.
Regional Sports Complex
The Kent County Regional Sports Complex is located on a 100-acre site and hosts major annual sports tournaments, drawing regional players and spectators. The new $24 million complex has twelve (12) synthetic turf fields with sports lighting, scoreboards, a stadium for 1,500 spectators, 900 parking spaces, and a 10,000-square-foot administration building.
Longwood Gardens East Conservatory Plaza Expansions
The new Plaza features the first terraced lawn in the United States and one of the largest indoor green walls in North America. A unique feature of the Plaza is a new concept of domed, naturally lit lavatory cabinets hidden within the landform. The innovative design of the underground restrooms will take advantage of earth insulation, an age-old concept that is highly energy efficient and joins other existing environmental practices at Longwood. A curving glass roofed corridor spine running between the two rows of lavatory domes is surrounded by massive “living” or green wall. The mechanical and electrical systems are closely integrated in with the architecture to ensure that the systems are not intrusive to the vision for the project. Unique features include a zoned radiant floor heating system, ice melting system and watering system for the green wall.
