Equally challenging are issues related to initial costs, return on investment, installation, maintenance and the flexibility offered in the monitoring and control of the systems. Since some of these facilities involve “24/7” operations, they are also particularity sensitive to systems' efficiency and energy conserving strategies. Public spaces within these facilities also have unique challenges in that they often require special food preparation and servicing areas with extraordinary plumbing, lighting requirements and ventilation capacities and intense support facilities to serve their intended functions.
